Lee Clark Obituary

LEE POTTER CLARK

Lee Potter Clark, of Montclair and Woodstock, Vt., died on Saturday, Sept. 29.

Born in Montclair in 1934, Mrs. Clark attended Verona High School, where she met her husband, Len Clark. She graduated from Smith College in 1956, majoring in art history, and was involved in athletics. She regularly volunteered for the Smith scholarship program.

Her modeling career was highlighted by her "Winston Girl," "Avon Lady" and Pan Am campaigns.

In 1958, she and Len Clark were married. After traveling with her husband's U.S. Navy pilot position, the couple settled in Montclair, where they became active community members.

As a third-generation member of the Montclair Golf Club, Mrs. Clark excelled on the tennis and paddle courts. She volunteered for years at Mountainside Hospital as a patient representative, working to welcome and comfort patients and their families. As an activities director at Katharine Gibbs School in Montclair, she was known for her 120-girl group trips to Bermuda.

The couple purchased a farm in Woodstock, Vt., in the 1960s. Her interest in the outdoors was matched by her love of animals and raising raccoons, always with her cat or bird by her side.

Mrs. Clark is survived by her husband of 54 years, Leonard Johnson Clark; her son, Scott Johnson Clark; her daughter, Shelley Clark Ott; her brother, Bruce G. Potter; her son-in-law Robert Ott; and her granddaughters, Courtney and Lauren Ott.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at the Montclair Golf Club within the next month.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Carol G. Simon Cancer Center, Morristown. Condolences may be made to the family at legacy.com.
