Leif Mickens Obituary
Leif E., age 41 of Hawthorne, on Sunday, September 18, 2011. Born in Paterson, Leif had resided in Hawthorne all of his life. Leif had worked with his wife Sherri at Strawberri Graphix, a graphic design company he and his wife co-owned. Leif, a devoted dog lover, associated himself to many animal causes and had proudly volunteered at the RBARI animal shelter. An avid athlete and runner, Leif had participated in Golden Gloves boxing, and Mixed Martial Arts fighting. Leif E. Mickens leaves behind his beloved wife Sherri (nee: Amoresano) Mickens of Hawthorne. He is the loving brother of Eric Gaire of Hopatcong. Dear step-son of Andrew Gaire of Hopatcong, and grandson of Virginia Otteren, also of Hopatcong. Son-in-law of Frank and Darlene Amoresano of Hawthorne, and brother-in-law of Kristy Amoresano of Hawthorne. He is predeceased by his mother Maryann Gaire. Leif is also survived by his dogs BooBoo, BamBam, and Sweet Pea. Funeral will be departing at 9:00am on Thursday, September 22, 2011 from the Browning-Forshay Funeral Home, 557 Lafayette Avenue, Hawthorne. Cremation will be private. Friends may call on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, 2 Shelter Lane, Oakland, NJ 07436. (www.browningforshay.com)
