Marie Joan Reilly

Marie Joan (Scully) Reilly, 96, of Nutley, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010 at Hospice of N.J. at St. Joseph's Wayne Hospital.

Born and raised in Newark, she moved to Nutley 43 years ago. Mrs. Reilly retired as a senior clerk from Bell Telephone Co. in Newark. At Nutley Parkside, she was a member and former secretary of the Tenants Association, founder and former librarian, former coordinator of trips and former editor of the Nutley Parkside News.

Proud of her Irish Heritage, she was a member of the Nutley Irish American Association. Mrs. Reilly was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, enjoyed her weekends in Belmar and enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband Peter Reilly and her son Edward P. Reilly.

She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Eltzholtz and her husband Edward; her brother, James Scully and his wife Alice; a sister-in-law, Peggy Johnston; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was also predeceased by a sister, Margaret Racaniello and a brother, Edward Scully.

The funeral was to be Saturday, Nov. 13 from the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, (swbrownandson.com), 267 Centre St. in Nutley, with a funeral Mass celebrated at St. Mary's Church in Nutley. The interment was to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover. Visitors were to be received at the funeral home on Friday, Nov. 12.
