We just saw the obituary in the RP Patriot and are so shocked. I had no idea she was ill. Joe and I went to school with Marlene and Johnny, and after he became ill I always saw her at her post or in the IGA.
Our sympathy to Johnny (whom we know so well) and all the family.
Sincerely,
Sue & Joe Marciniak

I moved away from Ridgefield Park two years ago, and I just heard of Marlene's death from an old friend. I'm so sad to think that the next time I visit, she will not be at her usual post at the corner of Main and Hazelton Streets. She always had a smile, a kind word, and treats for the neighborhood dogs, who loved to see her as much as her human friends did. You'll be missed and fondly remembered, Marlene!

Marlene, we will miss you. You were always so kind to the children. Marlene always looked forward to seeing the kids and would share snacks with them.
Marlene's crossing guard post was right by our house. We had many opportunities to chit-chat with Marlene each day as we went in and out. Marlene was very devoted to her husband and diligently watched over his heathcare. She enjoyed visiting her daughter and son-in-law and was very proud of her grandchildren. Most recently, she told us of her granddaughter's fabulous sweet-16 party.
Erin says, "She was very friendly and kind."
Vanessa says she liked, "having cookies with her and pretzels."
We extend our deepest condolences to her family.
