I was shocked by the news. Matt and I grew up in Northbrook. He was a good friend in my youth and we spent a lot of time together. Our parents stayed close, but we lost touch. I was very moved when he reached out to me after my mother passed away last year. I am sorry we did not get a chance to reconnect. My heart and prayers go out to his wife, children and the entire Hiertz family. God bless and rest in peace. Warmest regards, Mark Stetson

Matt,
My first 13 years of my life were some of the fondest I can remember because of the crazy times I spent with you. We were two bothers from different mothers... As we got older living on opposite coasts meant we rarely had time to keep up, but your friendship and memories remain strong in my heart & mind. I will always honor your memory and continue to pray for your family. Thank you for being my best friend

My deepest condolences to Matt's family.

My memories of Matt will forever be tied to long weekends in the Donnelley Building, as we shuffled thousands of computing devices from point A to point B. Under trying circumstances, he remained dedicated, focused, and professional. More importantly, he was kind-hearted and always willing to help. His fun-loving personality made work less work-like.

He was one of the good guys.

My prayers and thoughts are with his family and colleagues as well. Matt Rest Peacefully!

I was fortunate to have worked with Matt at Andersen Consulting and he was a great guy full of life and just getting Married. Matt was an outgoing, smart, caring fun to be with guy as he had a good sense of humor and enjoyed accomplishing things in life. You have my sincere condolences and sympathy on the loss of your Husband, Father and Best Friend. From the photos I saw, Matt enjoyed a lot of great times and love with his family and friends. I hope this and your faith will allow you over time to fondly recall all the great memories you made and shared together. Saying prayers for Susan, Thomas, Payton and his extended family.

While I did not know him personally, I recognized his friendly face. He was a busy man, but if you made eye contact with him, even if only in passing, he had a ready smile and greeting. I am so sorry for your loss.

You've lost a wonderful Husband and Father. Him and I spoke about you guys on several occasions over the few years I've known Him
Matt was an extra ordinary boss and a wonderful person, he was loved by everyone at the office. Matt had many of stories about Life, Work and more importantly, his terrific Family.
As you pass your days, some good and many not so good, please reflect on that Giant of a husband, father and for me, a great Boss
I miss him dearly

I had the pleasure of meeting Matt when he was an Accenture employee in 2001. Matt eventually joined ALLTEL/FIS and became a part of the Account Team supporting Accenture. Matt was a kind, intelligent, and energetic leader that always took the time to help others. Matt will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with Matt's family and friends.
