Stroudsburg, PA - Monica Anne (Malkiewicz) Olear, age 81, of Stroudsburg, PA passed away on Friday, February 12, 2021 at home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Passaic, NJ to Walter and Mary Malkiewicz, she resided in Fair Lawn, NJ for 25 years before moving to PA 29 years ago. Mrs. Olear earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Notre Dame College in Baltimore, MD. A woman of strong faith, she was a parishioner of The Church of St. Luke in Stroudsburg, PA where she was a member of the Bible Study Club. She was also a former parishioner of St. Anne R.C. Church in Fair Lawn. Monica was a talented cook. Whether preparing a holiday meal or baking, this was her passion, most likely because she raised four children and they were always hungry! She enjoyed traveling and in her younger days, bowling but her greatest joy came from spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.

Prior to retiring to raise her family, she was an English teacher in Passaic and Lodi. As a teacher, she had the instinct to help others through her kindness and will be remembered for her giving, loving and selfless nature. Monica was loved and respected by all those whose lives she touched.

Beloved and devoted wife of 57 years of George Olear. Loving mother of Gregory Olear, Douglas Olear, Conrad Olear and wife Diane and the late Jennifer Olear. Cherished grandmother of Stephanie, Grace, Matthew and Wil Olear. Dear sister of the late Raymond and Cecilia Malkiewicz.

The family will receive relatives and friends Tuesday, February 16, 2021, 9-10 am at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn, NJ, vpfairlawn.com. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, February 16, 2021, 10:30 am at St. Anne R.C. Church, 15-05 St. Anne Street, Fair Lawn, NJ. Interment will follow at Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Monica to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005 would be appreciated.
