Peter Harkin Obituary
Peter was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. to William and Rose Harkin. Before retiring he was a chief lineman for Consolidated Edison, Bronx, N.Y. He was a parishioner of Church of Our Lady of Mercy, Park Ridge. He was an exempt member of the Park Ridge Volunteer Fire Department where he served as lieutenant and captain. He was president of the Park Ridge Firemen's Association from 1980-1982 and was a founder of the annual firemen's babysitting course. He was an Army Veteran.
Beloved husband of Barbara A. Harkin. Devoted father of Eileen Kennedy and husband Pete and their children Erin, Ryan and Megan, Eleanor Buhler and her husband Frank and their children Madalyne and Elizabeth, and Peter Harkin and his wife Christine. Dear brother of Donald Harkin and his companion Kathleen Marosits, and Rosemary Fritz and her husband Allan.
Funeral liturgy at Church of Our Lady of Mercy, Park Ridge, on Monday, Oct. 4 at 11 a.m. Cremation will be private. The family will receive their relatives and friends at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, on Saturday, Oct. 2 from 1 to 4 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 3 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. with a Fire Department Service at 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made in Peter's name to The Carcinoid Cancer Foundation, Inc., 33 Mamaroneck Avenue, #492, White Plains, NY 10605, www.carcinoid.org.

When I joined Consolidated Edison Company in 1987 I had the pleasure of working with Pete Harkin. We had a great time working together and he really taught me a lot about line work. He was a real people person who made work fun and enjoyable. I will always remember the caring way about him. Our prayers are with Barbara and the family.

I have known the Harkin family for half of my life. It is an honor and a privilege to be part of his family for so long. Mr. Harkin will be sorely missed. My wife and I will keep him in our thoughts and prayers forever.
