Peter L. Keane

KEANE Peter L., of Allendale, NJ died Thursday, August 7, 2008. Born in Manhattan, New York he lived in Flushing, Queens before moving to Allendale in 1960. Peter attended New York University and then Brooklyn Law School from 1938-1941. He began working at the Law Firm of Lord, Day & Lord in New York as an office boy while attending college and law school. In April 1942, he was admitted as an Attorney and Counselor at Law for the State of New York. He served his country from 1942-1945 in the U.S. Army Air Corp and discharged as a Master Sgt. Upon returning from service in 1945, he was assigned to the corporate department at Lord, Day & Lord Esqs. In 1971, he was elected managing partner and served until 1982. He remained of counsel until 2000. In July of 1971, he was elected President and Chief Executive Officer of American Export Industries. In October of 1994, he was appointed Senior Advisor to the Law Firm of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius in New York until 2000. Surviving is his beloved wife of almost 60 years, Susan (nee Hughes) of Allendale, NJ, devoted father of Susan Keane Vogel of Franklin Lakes, NJ and Peter Kevin Keane of Florida. Loving grandpa to Erin, Kevin and Devon Vogel and Michael and Nicole Keane.
