Robert Clifford Obituary

CLIFFORD - Robert David, Jr. age 85, died peacefully on Tuesday, January 4, 2005 at the Valley Hospital in Ridgewood. Bob was born in Paterson on February 25, 1919; he lived in Ridgewood before moving to Midland Park 53 years ago. Bob was a Cost Estimator for ITT in Nutley for 15 years before his retirement in 1982. In his early career he was with Wright Aeronautical in Woodridge. Bob served his country during WW II in the United States Naval Submarine service, he was a charter member of VFW Post 7086 Midland Park-Wyckoff, a member of the Midland Park United Methodist Church, the Mountain View Masonic Lodge #154 in Wayne, and a member of the Ridgewood 4th of July Committee. Bob was the first Democrat to be elected to the Midland Park Borough Council in 1984, and then reelected in 1987. Surviving is his wife Ethel (nee Cotterill), his children Kathleen Grabianowski of Middletown, NY, Robert D. Clifford III and his wife Joan of Upper Saddle River, and three adoring granddaughters, Kaitlin, Sarah, and Caroline. Funeral services will be held Saturday 10 AM from the Vander Plaat Funeral Home 257 Godwin Avenue Wyckoff. Interment will follow in the Laurel Grove Memorial Park in Totowa. Visiting is Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Midland Park United Methodist Church, 269 Godwin Avenue, Midland Park, NJ 07432.

Rocky (I was the one who first called him Rocky) is my uncle. My mother's brother. He has always played a very important part in my life,even when I moved so far away! I love him lots and will miss him so very much! But I have SO many great memories of him! Janet
