Robert Ferber Obituary

FERBER
Robert "Bob," 85, of Seaford, Delaware passed away on January 10, 2015, under the care of Seasons Hospice at Christiana Hospital in Newark, Delaware, due to injuries sustained in an accidental fall.
Bob was born in Teaneck, New Jersey on July 17, 1929, son of Martin J. Ferber and Beatrice Frazer. Bob graduated from Hackensack High School where he made many lifelong friends, including his future wife, Marie Zurla. He then attended Parsons School of Art and Design in New York as he developed his artistic talents. Bob was married to Marie on May 13, 1950, forming a bond that endured for fifty-seven years, until her death in 2007.
Bob was drafted into the U.S. Army shortly after marrying, serving during the Korean War as a corporal at the headquarters of the 40th AAA Brigade in Tokyo, Japan. Bob relished his time in Japan while absorbing the unique culture and forming friendships that have lasted all his life.
After his return to civilian life in 1953, Bob resumed working at The Record, the largest non-urban daily newspaper in the United States. He eventually rose to be the Director of the Advertising Art Department, retiring in 1989, a period of forty years.
Bob and Marie then moved to Seaford, building their dream home in River's End where his artistic and design talents were on full display. Bob's father, Martin J. Ferber, who had been Sheriff of Bergen County for many years, had passed away in 1969, and so his beloved mother, Beatrice, moved to Delaware with them until her death in late 1989.
Bob is survived by his son, Dr. Robert C. Ferber, of Seaford, and his daughter, Jodi M. Ferber, of Watertown, Massachusetts, along with his granddaughters, Jeanmarie and Elizabeth Ferber.
In his retirement, Bob enjoyed gardening, cooking, entertaining, friends, and travel. He especially treasured time indulging his granddaughters and will be remembered as a loving son, husband, father, and Pop-Pop who cherished special time with family.
Family will receive friends on Friday January 16, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Vander Plaat Memorial Home 113 South Farview Avenue, Paramus, New Jersey. A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held at 10 AM on Saturday January 17, 2015 at the Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 113 South Farview Avenue, Paramus, New Jersey. Interment Maryrest Cemetery, Mahwah, New Jersey.
As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Employee Appreciation Fund at Methodist Manor House, 1001 Middleford Road, Seaford, Delaware 19973.

So sorry to hear of Mr. Ferber's passing. He was in the Bethany unit along with my aunt, Anna Lord, and most recently, just across the hall in the health center. He was always pleasant and gracious. A very sweet gentleman. Your family will be in our thoughts and prayers.
