Sophie Colaprete Obituary

COLAPRETE - Sophie Dorothy (nee Washecka), age 99, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 05, 2006. Born in Bayonne, NJ, she lived most of her life in Mineola, NY before moving to Mahwah eight years ago. She was a homemaker extraordinare and attended Immaculate Conception R.C, Church in Mahwah. Sophie spent many years as a volunteer in the hospice program of Valley Hospital, Ridgewood and the Winthrop Hospital, Mineola, NY. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Joseph A. in 1990. She is survived by her six dear children; Elmirinda Schenne of Mahwah, Virginia Cody of Pittsford, NY, Loretta Gaffney of Mahwah, Joan Trocchia of Garden City, NY, Patricia Beliveau of Virginia Beach, John Colaprete of Virginia Beach, 19 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Also survived by her brother Raymond Washecka of Freeport, NY and her sister Mildred Messina of Texas. Friends may visit the family Monday, 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Vander Plaat Funeral Home 257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff, NJ. Funeral prayers will take place from the funeral home on Tuesday, 8:15 AM, followed by a mass celebrating Sophie's life, 9:30 AM at Immaculate Conception R.C. Church, 900 Darlington Ave. Mahwah. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Queens, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Valley Hospice, c/o The Valley Hospital Foundation, 223 N.
