William A. Goode, Jr. (Bill)

Little Ferry - Bill Goode (62) a life-long resident of Little Ferry suddenly passed away on February 3, 2021. He was the devoted husband of 37 years to Maryann (nee Pettigano), loving father to William Joseph (Billy), Jason, Kelsey Oates and her husband Ian. Bill was born on June 15,1958 born to the late William A Goode Sr and is survived by his mother Mary Jane Goode (nee Beronio). He was the cherished son-in law to the late Joseph and Sophie Pettigano. Bill is survived by his three loving sisters and their husbands, Laura Goode (Raymond Koonce), Jeanne Keating (Rob), Maureen Valentinetti (William), and his In-Laws Lawrence and Nancy Pettigano. Dearest uncle to Darryl, Courtney, and his buddy Thomas John. Fun-loving Grandpa to his two Grandpups Max and Charlie. He is also survived by many cousins and life-long friends who will miss him dearly. For the past several years, Bill worked as the Buildings and Grounds Supervisor for the Weehawken School District. Prior to that, he served in the same capacity for the Little Ferry School System. His original career path began when he started an apprenticeship with Plumbing Union Local 14 and eventually became a partner in his dad's plumbing business. Anyone who knew Bill knows he didn't love anything or do anything half way. He loved his family and friends tremendously. He loved music. He loved everything Bruce Springsteen having attended dozens of concerts from the best seats in the house and knowing every song he ever recorded. Bill enjoyed taking family drives to Asbury Park with hopes of meeting his favorite artist. If you think Lemon Ice, Lobster Bisque, and B&W jelly donuts, Bill Goode will come to mind. He had a larger than life personality and he will be greatly missed. Family and friends are invited to visit today, 3-7PM at the Volk Leber Funeral Home, 789 Teaneck Rd., Teaneck. Funeral service Wednesday, 10am at the funeral home. Interment to follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus. Billy and I attended both St. Margaret's Grammar School and Paramus Catholic High School together. We shared many of Our "Wonder Years" playing basketball in the Goode's driveway back in the day, blasting music during many of those contests. I will forever remember fondly the high school bus rides sharing the songs of the Allman Brothers and Emerson, Lake, & Palmer along the way. I'm just hoping Billy's up at The Gates of Heaven hearing "Welcome Back, My Friend to The Show That Never Ends"...
To Bill's Loving Mom, Sisters, Family, and Friends, Thank You for The Honor of Sharing Billy Goode with Us All...

Although this is a very heavy hearted time, I wish to share and celebrate Billy’s zest for life.
I met Billy when he had his silver Impala. In my mind’s eye Billy is driving down Eckel Road with his feathered hair (it was the 70’s and he always had great hair) and his arm is halfway down the driver’s door. The music is blasting so loud, Billy was heard coming down the road before you could see him.
Who could forget Billy’s brown van with cutout mushroom windows? John and I spent many nights eating fast food, laughing and cruising with Billy and Mair in that van. One night Billy heard Wendy’s restaurant came to our area, and drove us to Queens to have our first Wendy’s burgers.
Soon there is love and marriage and along comes the apples of Billy and Mair’s eyes...Billy, Jason and Kelsey.
Life goes on and sadly here we are. Billy, you will be missed by many. It is somber knowing your booming voice won’t be heard for a while. Til we meet again my friend.

I am shocked and saddened by Billy’s passing. He was a good friend who was very smart and capable in so many ways. I worked with Bill and his wife MaryAnn in the Little Ferry Public Schools for many many years. I knew all three of his children and watched them grow up. He loved his family, his motorcycle, his music ( The Boss), technology, and Little Ferry. He was a proud man - of his children and their accomplishments and of his home and the life he had built there with MaryAnn. Please accept my deepest condolences He had popped into my mind last week and I was going to reach out to him to check in. So saddened.

I’ll never forget the first time I met you, it Billy & I’s freshman year. I went to his baseball game in little ferry and afterwards when he was about to introduce me to you, said,”you must be the infamous jolene”. You beat us to it! I’ll also always remember the time you gave me flowers just for being there as a friend for Billy after he had got in trouble one night during our senior year. I am shocked and saddened to know you are no longer with us, but grateful to have known you and have memories I will always keep. I pray that you are at peace.
