Zola Giovio

GIOVIO
Zola M. (nee Allen), of Toms River (formerly of Dumont), entered into eternal life on Monday, May 2, 2016 at home, surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Michael Giovio (1997); devoted mother of Lynda Schmidt and her husband Donald, and Michael Giovio and his wife Mary; cherished grandmother of Michael Schmidt and his wife Sara, Andrew Schmidt and his wife Donna, Lauren Schmidt, and Adam Lichter and his wife Christina; and great-grandmother of Alyssa, Alexa, Cameron, Aiden, Kai, and Zane.
Raised in Closter, NJ by Laura (nee Mandel) and Eben Allen, Zola cared for her own family in Dumont, NJ, where she lived most of her life. She spent her later years with her daughter and son-in-law in the Lavallette-Toms River area of Ocean County. Zola will always be remembered as being a sweet, fun, exceedingly generous and kind person, and for her love of playing Bingo.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, 10 AM, Sacred Heart R.C. Church in Haworth. Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus. Family and friends are welcome to celebrate her life on Thursday 3-5 and 7-9 PM at the Frech-McKnight Funeral Home, 161 Washington Avenue in Dumont. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Zola's memory to the American Lung Association.
