Angelita Helen Callo, 93, of Napoleon, Ohio, passed away on Nov. 3, 2025, at Northcrest Nursing Home.
She was born on Jan. 27, 1932, in the Philippines to the late Gregorio and Emcarnacion (Cabanoyan) Callo. Angelita had three brothers and one sister who preceded her in death.
She graduated in 1953 at the University of the East Manila, Philippines, with a bachelor's degree in education. Angelita taught at the high school level for 12 years and 7 years at the elementary level at Narvacan Ilocos Sur.
Upon moving to the U.S., her qualifications were accepted as an Elementary Teacher in the State of Iowa. During the summers, she studied at the University of Iowa, Northeast Missouri State and Northern Illinois University to complete her certificate. Angelita continued to teach at Van Buren School in Keosauqua, Iowa, and at ST. Paul School in Burlington, Iowa.
Upon moving to Ohio, she discovered that she needed further education to teach in Ohio, so she completed her Ohio credentials through The University of Toledo. It was hard to find a full-time teaching position, so she substitute taught for 33 years. Angelita also worked for 25 years as the nightshift Supply Aide at Fulton County Health Center, where she eventually retired from.
