Bernard Lee Dielman, 84, of Napoleon, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2024.
He was born on June 9, 1939, the oldest son of Robert and Ruth (Rettig) Dielman. He was baptized on Aug. 6, 1939, at St. John's Evangelical Reformed Church, Holgate, by Rev. O. Stockmeier. On April 9, 1950, he was confirmed at Evangelical United Brethren Church, McClure by Rev. E. H. Daubert. He became a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon, through confirmation by Rev. Frederick Kipp on April 11, 1963.
Bernie and Florence (Junge) Dielman were married on Aug. 26, 1962, at St. John Lutheran Church, Holgate by Rev. Donald Schumm.
After graduating from McClure High School in 1957, Bernie served in the Army National Guard. He became a multi-talented carpenter under the guidance of his father, Bob, and could build an entire house as easily as a beautiful piece of furniture.
As a faithful member of St. Paul, he gave of his time and talents by serving on many different boards and committees. There are many examples of his excellent carpenter skills throughout the church and school.
Bernie was born in the brick farmhouse that was built by his ancestors. Family members have lived on this property since 1876, and Bernie enjoyed carrying on that tradition from 1970 until his death.
He was proud of the many deer he harvested by bow hunting in the woods. His family liked to fish and swim in the pond, drive the 4x4 around the field, and indulge in the many kinds of fudge he made. His beloved grandchildren especially enjoyed Pa Pa's famous Red Velvet pancakes, served during the summer Dielman Weekends.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, are his children, Matthew (Noelle) Dielman, Mark (Richel) Dielman, Jennifer (Kevin) Donovan; grandchildren, Lauren (Reed) Taylor, Alexandra Dielman, Wesley (Elisa) Dielman, Andrea Dielman, David Dielman, Dylan Dielman, Ciara (Matthew) Sako, Sean Donovan; great-grandson, Ambrose James Dielman; brother, Ronald (Debbie) Dielman; brother-in-law, Larry Dirr; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Roberta (Larry) Dirr.
