Betty Lather, 85, of Napoleon passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Napoleon, Ohio, on April 21, 1939, to John and Margaret (Detmer) Funchion. Betty married Lawrence "Larry" Lather on Sept. 29, 1958, in Napoleon.
Betty worked in the office at Campbell's Soup for 31 years. For many years, Betty volunteered her time to the Red Cross and blood mobiles. She tended bar at the Moose Lodge for 20 years and loved socializing with friends and patrons.
She was an avid bowler for many years and traveled the states with her team. Betty loved spending time with her late husband, Larry, and family, at their cottage at Nettle Lake.
Betty loved watching all sports, but mostly her Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Indians. She enjoyed watching her sons, granddaughters and great grandkids play sports.
When Betty wasn't enjoying the outdoors, working, volunteering, or watching a sporting event, she was socializing and playing cards. She lived for family gatherings where she could cook and bake for her family and then rule the table during domino tournaments.
Betty was the strong pillar of her family with her incredible love for life. She cared deeply for her many friends and family. Her spunk and humor will forever live in our hearts.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Larry; parents, John and Margaret Funchion; brother, Jim Funchion; and daughter-in-law, Beth Lather.
She is survived by three sons, Larry (Lori Schuette), John (Jill Hersh-McGee), Dave Lather; six grandchildren, Brittni Lather (Ron Patton), Brandi (Brian) Prather, Amanda (Chris) Cody, Jenna Lather (Benny Gomez), Drew Lather, Taelor Lather; and six great-grandchildren, Zane Mengerink-Lather, Callie, Kennedy, Karsyn Prather, and Dominic and Hanley Cody.
Friends and family will be received at the Rodenberger-Gray Funeral Home, Napoleon, on Sunday, March 2, 2025, from 2-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday, March 3, 2025, at 11 a.m., with an hour of visitation prior to services.
