Donald Wardell Barkley, 86, of Napoleon, Ohio, went home to the Lord on Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2025.
He was born on Jan. 20, 1939, to the late Wardell and Marie (Gainer) Barkley in Elkins, West Virginia. On June 27, 1992, he married Barbara Jean Smith at McClure United Methodist Church and spent a loving 33 years together.
Don was a loving person who cherished spending time with his family and friends. He was a faithful member of McClure United Methodist Church and the past president for the Elks Lodge #929 of Napoleon.
Don was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps and worked for the Federal Aviation Administration. He would often spend his time farming and traveling with friends and family to various locations on cruises.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; children, Valerie Lynn Carpenter, Heather Joy (Timothy) Coyle; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Don is preceded in death by his sister, Betty Umpenhour, and brother-in-law, Charlie Umpenhour.
A private Celebration of Life for Don will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed towards the Wounded Warrior Project.
