Earl "Butch" C. Richardson Jr. entered eternal rest on Nov. 25, 2025.
Born on June 24, 1943, in Terre Haute, Indiana, to Jessie and Earl Richardson Sr., he was affectionately referred to as "Butch" by close family and friends.
Earl relocated to Napoleon, Ohio, with his parents in 1950. He loved to share childhood memories of his boyhood adventures with his cousins, aunts and uncles. Butch loved exploring around Napoleon as a young boy with his brother, Mike, and childhood friends.
Earl was the husband to Sue for over 62 years, and left behind four children, 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Earl was hard-working as a supervisor at Napco Plastics for most of his career, and performed as a member of the Maumee Valley Polka Band on weekends. He was a lifetime member of the Napoleon Moose Lodge #788 and spent many summer days swimming and picnicking at the Moose pond with his family and friends.
Earl was a stroke survivor for the last 23 years of his life, with his dedicated wife, Sue, caring for him so that he could live at home as long as possible.
He was particularly attached to his dog Holly, who was a faithful companion sleeping with him every night. Holly offered him a bright spot in his everyday life.
Before his stroke, Butch enjoyed singing, fishing, boating and snowmobiling. His talent for singing and love of music stayed with him throughout his entire life.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Sr. and Jessie Richardson, and great-grandson, Brax Hough.
Earl is survived by his wife, Sue, and children, Chad (Jodi), Matt, Wendy (Michael) Clark and Cory (Sybil); grandchildren, Haley (Adam) Birtcher, CJ (Adina), Matthew Clark, Lynzee (Dylan) Hough, Chase Richardson, Lexa Richardson, Ryan (Tavia) Clark, Megan (fiancé, Bryn Biemiller) Richardson, Shylo Richardson and Brinly Richardson; and siblings, Mike (Cathy) and Pam (Tim) Downey. Earl had six great-grandchildren, three nephews, three nieces and 11 grand nieces and nephews.
Services for Earl will take place at Sharon Methodist Church (9016 CR-P) of Napoleon on Saturday, Dec. 6. Visitation will take place from 10-11, followed by the funeral service with a luncheon following.
Memorials in Earl's memory may be considered to Hospice of Henry County, Henry County Humane Society or Henry County United Way.
