Jerome Paul "Jerry" Freytag, age 88 years, of Hudson passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2025, at Hospice of Lenawee, Adrian.
He was born in Fremont, Ohio, on Oct. 26, 1936, the son of Herman Henry and Regina (Bockelman) Freytag.
Jerry graduated from Napoleon High School in 1954. He was a veteran of the United States Navy.
Jerry married Marsha Agnes Eickhoff on Oct. 19, 1958, in Napoleon. She preceded in death on May 29, 2016.
Jerry worked for Magnavox in Ft. Wayne, IMCO in Adrian, Hudson State Savings Bank in Hudson, City Manager, Clerk and Treasurer for the City of Hudson, as an independent appraiser and as a caregiver to his beloved wife, Marsha.
Jerry enjoyed woodworking, photography, quilting, computer art and working on his home with Marsha which was their pride and joy.
Jerry is survived by his sons, Marc C. (Karen) Freytag and J. Scot Trombly-Freytag; four grandchildren, Lauren Smith, Ashley Conrad, Rebecca Trombly-Freytag and Corey Trombly-Freytag; four great-grandchildren, Seth and Elijah Conrad, Olivia Hamel and Avery Garey; two brothers, Ron (Mary) Freytag and Walt (Karol) Freytag; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his daughter, Lisa Freytag-Smith; his parents; and four siblings, Beverly, Janet, Richard and Thomas.
Cremation has taken place and no public services are being planned.
A private internment will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery in Napoleon, Ohio at a later date.
"Since the last few years I've become comfortable in my skin, and I wouldn't change a thing.
"I'm just pleased."
