Carl Eugene Hamman, 92, of Springfield, Ohio, and formerly of Mansfield and Delaware, Ohio, died Wednesday, July 13, 2022, in Springfield. He was born Jan. 8, 1930, in Mansfield, the third of five children of the late Albert and Lestia (Young) Hamman.

Carl was a 1948 graduate of Mansfield High School. In 1951, he was drafted into U.S. Army, where he served in the U.S. Army of Occupation in Munich, Germany, until 1953. He became a Free Mason in 1951 and was a life-time member of Grand Lodge F&AM of Ohio and the Venus Lodge 152 of Mansfield. He was a member of American Legion Post 888. Carl worked as a property and casualty insurance agent for many years. After retirement, he worked for Marriott Hotel, Columbus, and then Sarah Moore Health Care Center, Delaware.

Carl was a fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes men's and women's teams and he enjoyed researching family genealogy. Carl was a loving husband and father, and he was proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his children, Bryan and Lynette Hamman of Greenwich, Eric and Gale Hamman of South Jordan, Utah, Emily and Jon Binder of Overland Park, Kansas; grandchildren, Sarah and Matt Reffel, Rachel and Jacob Bush, Hannah and Mike Stybel, Jackie Binder, Andrew Binder, Margot Hamman, and Emmett Hamman; great-grandchildren, Jordyn, Quinn, Adaline, Piper, Hudson, Colin, and Mason; sister, Sandy Rucker; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Esther (Maul) Hamman; and siblings, Betty Mortz, Charles Hamman, and twin sister, Carol Sweet.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 23, 2022, until the time of the funeral at 12 p.m. with Pastor Doug Lang officiating at Eastman Funeral Home, 49 West Main Street, Greenwich.
