Anne English Obituary
Norwich - Anne Thomasine English, the daughter of the late Thomas and Mabel (Enos) English, was born April 1, 1934, and died February 4, 2021.
Anne was an honors graduate of Norwich Free Academy and St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Hartford. An instructor of student nurses at St. Francis, she also did public health, camp nursing and private duty. She did school nursing for most of her career.
A member of St. Patrick Cathedral and Sacred Heart parishes she served on several charitable boards including Catholic Charities and ARC. A member of Backus Hospital Auxiliary she volunteered for many years in its gift shop.
A daily walker, frequent skier, and extensive traveler, she was known for her love of style, particularly her beautiful Spring hats.
Ann is survived by her two sisters, Mary of Norwich and Ellen of Norwich and Stonington, and cousins. She was predeceased by her sister Margaret and brother-in-law James Viadella.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, February 11, 2021, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Cemetery in Norwich. Mask and social distancing will be required. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in the coming months at the Cathedral of St. Patrick in Norwich. It will be publicly announced.
Guillot Funeral Home of Taftville is in charge of arrangements.

I remember her as our occasional nurse @ St Patrick’s school. She was beautiful & I remember her being so kind to the children.

Mary and Ellen, I am so very sorry to hear of Anne's passing. The friendship she shared with Joan was very caring. Their visits on our porch and the afternoon tea visits were so beneficial to Joan. Their friendship began at Buckingham School and progressed from there ver the years. The many years on the Catholic Charities will always be remembered. May she rest in peace and reunite with Joan.

I remember Miss Anne English well as a child at the Buckingham School, and then later as a neighbor in Norwichtown on Harland Road. She was beyond wonderful.....May she rest in peace.....

To the family: I absolutely loved Miss English! She was our grammar school nurse at Buckingham School. Being a sickly child, she saw me a lot! Her compassion was second to none. I always admired her and how she carried herself. Rest in Peace.

To Anne ‘s family so sorry for your loss, Anne was a friend from Backus hospital, her dress was impeccable along with her personality. Anne and her sister Ellen would sit with me at Sacred heart church in Taftville. She will be missed. RIP Anne.
