Norwich - Daniel Tarryk died peacefully at home on Friday surrounded by his loving family at the age of 82. Danny was born on March 15, 1934 in Norwich, CT, son of the late Harry and Mary (Baronowski) Tarryk.
Danny is survived by his wife Gail, their five children, Tina Tarryk of Norwich, Brenda and Richard Gignac of Canterbury, Daniel and Michelle Tarryk of Derby, VT, Kathy Tarryk of Norwich, and Donald and Kristen Tarryk of Dayville, ten grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, sisters Sonya Burns of South Dennis, MA, Helen Gernhard of West Hartford, Barbara Alfiero, of Baltic and numerous nieces and nephews.
On April 20, 1963 he married the love of his life Gail (Rainville) Tarryk. He was one of 14 children and left school at an early age to work on the family farm. He and his brothers ran Lonely Ash Farm with a strong work ethic. Through their hard work they were presented with the esteemed "Green Pastures" award in 1961 by the governor of the State of Connecticut, for excellence in farming. The 150 acre farm boasted 240 head of Holstein cattle with hay and corn harvested annually. In later years he continued to sell and service dairy supplies to various farms throughout the New England area. He will most be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, who was always kind and honest, extended a firm handshake and a big smile. His favorite activities included, vacationing on Lake Winnipesaukee for over 40 years with his family and dear friends, fishing on his boat the "Lake Lady", making wine, playing pitch, and family reunions.
He is predeceased by sisters, Katherine Tarryk, Anna Tarryk, Lillian Tatro, Olga DesSureault, Mary Rondeau and brothers, George Tarryk, Michael Tarryk, Tony Tarryk, Henry Tarryk, Robert Tarryk and grandson Daniel Tarryk, Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10:00 am at St. Joseph's Church in Occum meeting directly at the church. The burial will follow in Pachaug Cemetery Griswold. Calling hours at the Guillot Funeral Home 75 South B Street, Taftville will be Tuesday from 5 - 8 pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Occum Fire Dept., Taftville-Occum Road, Norwich, CT 06360.
