Demosthenes “Demo� Diamantes July 22, 2009 E. GREENWICH, RI - Demosthenes “Demo� Diamantes, 50, of Charlton, MA formerly of E. Greenwich, went quietly into the hands of our Lord on July 22, 2009. He will be missed by all who loved him. Born on Thasos Island, Greece to the late Constantine and Anthoula (Evangelidiou) Diamantes. Demos loved flying, traveling, and cooking. A craftsman of many talents, he enjoyed making model planes and clocks. He was a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association and a life-long member of the Greek Orthodox Church. He proudly became an American citizen on July 4, 1999 and embraced both his Greek heritage and American homeland. Demos is survived by a sister, Soula Rakapoulou and her husband Pedro; two nieces, Constantina and Athena of Aminteo Florinas, Greece; his companion of many years, Patricia Carroll, of Charlton, MA; his stepchildren, James Wilkinson of Coggon, Iowa, Trish and Joe Gil of Voluntown, CT, Sandra and Linwood Lamb of North Franklin, CT, and Cathy and Gary Zahn of Pennington, NJ. “Papa Dennis� will be missed by his many cousins including George and Elizabeth Cosmides of Wheeling WV, Anna, Frieda and Ava in Greece, his aunts, Katerina and Victoria of Athens, Greece, 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and numerous friends both here in the US and Greece. He was also predeceased by his aunt Penelope “Penny� Cosmisdes. His funeral service will be held Tuesday at a time to be announced.
