Memories and Condolences
for Doris Baker

Not sure what to say?

August 13, 2013

Dear Bobby, Jimmy, Rosalie, Alice, & Diane,
My sister told me of Aunt Betty's passing and just wanted to send along my condolences. Your mom was a hard-working woman and was always there to help others in need. She also visited my mother when she was ill and was known to go to the cemetery frequently to put a flower on her grave. She and my father are the same age--he is still will it and with us. She and my father did get together a couple of times during my mother's illness. He would often go to Danielson to get her and bring to Somers to visit my mother. I'm sure we all still have fond memories of all the kids who grew up in Rogers and the great fun we used to have even if our mothers' did not approve of our antics.
My best to you all,
Linda Meagher Shail

To the Caswell kids Bobby, Jimmy, Rosalie, Alice & Diane,
First, I am so sorry I didn't make it to the wake or funeral as I learned after the fact of 'Aunt Betty's' passing. I was 3 yrs. old when we moved next door to your family and have
seen your mom several times in the passing years. She was one of the sweetest, gentlest and kindest women I have ever known in my life. She was always thinking about the needs of others and how she could help them. From an early age, I always knew how much she loved her Lord and there's no doubt where she is now. In time, we will meet again where there is no more pain, no more sorrows, only joy forevermore! Your mother was truly a jewel among women - a real treasure!
It has always been heartwarming to remember her and growing up next door to you all!
May your grieving be shortened by the knowledge of her 'new' residence!
Love,
Cathy

To all in the Caswell family, It seems like I knew Betty from the beggining of time. She was the only babysitter I think I ever had watch me in my youth. Latter I learned it was her first husband Bob that talked my Dad into having his first auction in 1959. He also was the guy that came up with Dads call name of "Smiling Jim". It amazed me how much kindness was so strong for Betty and she proved it when she found her second husband "Mr.Baker"...What a nice guy.Who would have guessed that Dad and Betty would leave us in the same year. May the divine one let them all rest in peace.
