PLAINFIELD – Elizabeth "Betty" Bissonnette, 81, of Moosup, beloved wife of Maurice "Moe" Bissonnette passed away Jan. 9, 2018. She was born Aug. 29, 1936 to the late Aram and Aurise (Gauthier) Cournoyer and was a lifelong resident of Moosup. Betty was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, the Plainfield Senior Chorus and the Plainfield Women's Club. She was a communicant, lector and Eucharistic minister at All Hallows Church. Besides her husband she leaves a son Aram Bissonnette and his wife Lori of Danielson; 4 daughters Aurise Mitchell and husband Stephen, Alison Dore, Andrea Gray and husband Robert all of Moosup, Aimee Whitneck and husband Derek of Norwich. 3 sisters Cecile Cournoyer of Glastonbury, Jeanne Irons and Marthe Tetreault both of Moosup.11 grandchildren, 2 great granddaughters and numerous nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Jan. 20 at 9 a.m. at All Hallows Church, Moosup. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to the Day Kimball Hospital or Backus Hospital Oncology Departments. www.doughertybrosfuneralhome.com

To the entire Bissonnette family-
I am so sorry about your wife and mother passing. A least she held on until after the holidays.
I will never forget this one memory I have regarding Mrs. B a/k/a mom--It goes like this:
Alison was and still is one of my best friends AND her room was ALWAYS SO CLEAN! Well I spent the night there once(of many-but this one was the best!) and the following morning, mom came is to wake us up; however, she was quite STARTLED WHEN THE FLOOR MOVED. Like I said-ALISON'S ROOM WAS SO CLEAN!!! The last thing mom B. expected to see was the clothes move on the floor!!!! I do believe she had to go change!

Betty will definitely be missed by anyone who was fortunate enough to have known her. Her energy and devotion to her family and the church cannot be described. Aunt Betty was a wonderful person and I have many fond memories of the time I spent with her and Uncle Moe and my cousins. Uncle Moe and Aunt Betty taught me how to play cribbage. Aunt Betty taught me how to sew. And she and I would color in the kids coloring books after they went to bed. I know she will be an angel watching over her family now. May she rest in peace.
