James MacMahon Obituary

JAMES M. MACMAHON 1965 - 2018
MANCHESTER - James M. MacMahon, Man of Nine Lives, made of steel, died unexpectedly of a heart attack on Saturday, January 20th, 2018 at the age of 52. Jim is survived by his parents Judith Ulikowski and Van Starkweather of Lebanon; two sons, Shane MacMahon and his wife Danielle of North East, PA, and Eric MacMahon and his wife Robin of Uncasville; grandson Trigger and step-grandchildren Chandler, Ayrlie and Liv; siblings Sheryl and Mike Savino of Scotland, Erin and Joseph Jones of South Windsor and Alan Dancosse of Chaplin; nieces Emily, Kaylee and Maggie; nephew Anthony; fiancé Carolyn Titus and her daughter Madison of Manchester; and countless friends. Jim was born on March 25, 1965 in Norwich, CT. He graduated from Windham High School in 1983 and went on to become a master welder at EA Patten where his talent was recognized by all. Jim was an avid motocross rider and enjoyed nothing greater than being one with his bike, ripping it up in the woods or on the ice. He was comic relief for all he knew, a quick wit whose one-liners never disappointed. He was passionate about collecting…dirt bikes, guitars, flannels, guns, keys and admirers. Life was hard, but Jim worked hard and played even harder. Those who knew him best knew how much he wanted to be loved. We are comforted by knowing Jim spent his last day doing what he loved, being on his bike, on the ice, with friends and family. A wake is scheduled from 4-7 pm on Friday, January 26th at Woyasz & Son Funeral Home, 141 Central Ave, Norwich, CT. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jim's life. There will be an opportunity to share your favorite memories of Jim. Our family would love to hear how he has touched your lives. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Jim's favorite charity, National Public Radio, at npr.org

I offer my sincerest condolences at the passing of your loved one and our friend.

There are so many good times spent with Jimmy [J-Mac] at work. He always, always worked hard; Jimmy was a model of a perfect welder; a wizard with a torch. This is the Jimmy that I know, and I miss him for the knowledge that he shared in his own funny ways.

A tough and rugged individual, even with his upcoming shoulder surgery, Jimmy was at work every; and I still cannot believe that he able to lift his arm to execute the prefect weld. This is the Jimmy that I know.

A dedicated, fun loving, hard working man. I will never stop missing him.

Jim will be in my heart and memories forever. The many times we spent at the shop welding together shooting and races will always be with me. One time at the races Jim was doing really well and had a flat tire and then ran out of gas he pushed the bike to the finish line and although you didn't win the race you ended up winning the championship. This showed just how tough you could be and left a lasting impression on me. Miss you very much rest in peace.

Living on Blissville Road is how I remember Jim. It's been a time since that. But that's my earliest remembrance of my time spent with Jim.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. So sorry to hear about Jim's passing.

Dear Judy, Sheryl, Erin & family,
I first met my Cousin Jimmy at his Christening. What a beautiful baby he was. I would see him at his Grandma and Grandpa Ulikowski's home from time to time. I recall staying overnight at Judy's home when Sheryl was born. He liked matchbox cars at that time, but his love was always motorcycles!
May God Bless and keep Jimmy in the palm of His hand and may He bless Judy, Sheryl, Erin and families in every way at this time of sudden and great loss'
