We were honored to meet Midge when she was our Mom's roommate in Manchester Manor. While our Mom was failing Midge was strong with a friendly smile and always words of encouragement
We shared many cups of coffee together, our Mom an iced coffee, Midge with cream and sweet & low. Midge constantly looked out for our Mom and was a strong advocate for her when at times she could not advocate for herself. Midge shared stories with us of her growing up, training dogs and life lessons.
We want to offer our family's condolences to all of you. We knew Midge for a very short time yet through that time she made us feel like we had known her forever.
She will be missed,

Bye Mom. I thought we had more time but Covid took you away from us and there was still so much I wanted to tell you... I'm so sorry. I know how afraid you were and I couldn't even hold your hand as you struggled. I can only hope that you have found your way and loved ones have called to you. I just want you to know that I love you and will miss you terribly.

Stephanie's tribute to her grandmother:
I will remember my grandmother for many things: Great Danes (she had up to 5 at one point); Tummy Tickler rides (driving fast over hills to create a rollercoaster effect ); her Dunkin order (half-n-half and 4 sweet-n-lows). This week my grandmother, along with thousands of others, died of COVID-19.I am very grateful to the brave nursing home staff at Touchpoints in Farmington CT who cared for her in her time of sickness and enabled us to say goodbye over Zoom.

To my best friend-
I don't even know how I'm supposed to begin. All I know is this all is an understatement compared to the relationship we had. A lot of people always say about their grandparents were their best friends but mine legit was. She knew things about me that nobody else knows. She was my rock, my best friend, my shoulder to cry on- she always was there for me, no matter what is was I needed she found anyway to help. Everyone always said I was your mini and I still believe that. We were the same people. Black leggings with the accessory of dog hair. Love for all animals. Coffee at any time of day or not. High black boots with huge black purses. I can look at anything and it will remind me of you in someway. We had soooo many sleepovers where we had laughs and heart to hearts all night up until 8 months ago when you moved to the nursing home. You know so many of my secrets. And I know so many of yours. You always told me the connection we had was different from other people and you held it closest to your heart as do I. You were my diamond in all the rocks around me. My light in my life. Nobody will truely understand the relationship we had. I can list so many memories fun and sentimental but I feel like that should stay between the two of us. I don't know how I'm going to go on with life without you. I know you'll be at my wedding in spirit because you said nothing would stop you from going and I still believe that. I love you with all my heart. My world won't be the same without you, my best friend.Thank you for being the BEST grandmother and the BEST friend I could have ever been blessed with. And thank you for all the wonderful memories with you, I will never forget any of them. EVER. I'm so heartbroken. Yesterday I gained a new guardian angel. One that I will miss severely for the rest of my life. As I am down here trying to pull myself together which is hard but I know it's what you would want me to do but I just hope you are up there with all your dogs in your glory. I love you with all my heart, forever my best friend. ❤

Midge lived her adult life in various corners of Connecticut. She was able to live independently nine of the past ten years thanks to subsidized senior housing and Medicare. Im grateful for the nursing home staff who enabled us to say goodbye over Zoom. *
This pandemic was avoidable. We deserve better. Stay home if you can. Vote for a better future

Midge was a ray of sunshine in our community and we were so blessed to have her here while we did. She was always friendly, always fair, intelligent and engaging, loving, and had a great sense of humor. The pictures posted here in the gallery are a delight to see! Her smiling face will always be missed. Rest in Peace, dearest Midge, and love and peace to her entire extended family who she loved so deeply. -Erin at the Hollander House
