Nathan Herman Obituary

Nathan Herman Died - November 5, 2007 COCOA BEACH, FL - Nathan Herman, 89, of Cocoa Beach, FL, passed away Monday, November 5, 2007. Nathan was born in North Providence, RI to the late Samuel and Rose Herman. He was a gifted athlete and musician, who with is brothers, played baseball in a celebrity league in Hollywood, CA, and played drums with swing and jazz bands in California and New York. In Hollywood, he met and married his wife of 59 years, Hannah. Together they moved to Connecticut and started a family Grocery business. He was a decorated World War II Veteran serving in the Philippine and Aleutian Islands. Among his many civic activities Nathan was a volunter for 20 years at Cape Canaveral Hospital in Cocoa Beach. Nathan is survived by his wife, Hannah; daughter Lynn (David) Herman-Atkins of Massachusetts, sons, Larry of Massachusetts, Harris of Connecticut brother of Max (Ida) and Lt. Col. retired, Joseph (Beverly and the late Elaine); uncle of Leslie (Jay), Michelle (Rob) Marlene and Barry (Sharon) and great uncle of Cori, Carley, Caitlan, Adam and Brian, Abbey (Jason), Alison (Chris), Stephanie and Michael and a host of other family members. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Wuesthoff Brevard Hospice & Palliative Care, 119 Longwood Avenue, Rockledge, FL 32955. Graveside services were held Wednesday, November 7th, at 10:30 a.m., at Congregational of Reform Judaism Cemetery in Gotha, FL. Services were entrusted to Beth Shalom Memorial Chapel in Orlando.

Mr. Herman,
Sir, I didn't know you but I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served during WW II in the Aleutian Islands in the North Pacific fighting the Japanese and for being a member of the Greatest Generation. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
