Robert Hoyt Obituary

Robert Hoyt 2021
Sterling - Robert Hoyt of Sterling passed away peacefully January 13, 2021, with his loving family by his side.
Born in Moosup, to James and Josephine Hoyt, he was an altar boy and communicant of All Hallows Church, where he also attended grade school.
After graduating from Plainfield High, he served his country in Germany during the Vietnam War.
Returning home, he joined the American Legion Post 91 holding every position the club offered; from Sgt. at Arms to Commander, even managing the club's Legion ball team.
Robert was a lifelong Yankees and UConn basketball fan, but there was no sport he loved more than whichever one his granddaughter was playing that day.
He owned his own business for decades before turning in his tool belt and becoming a supervisor for Carpenters Local 24 until he retired in 2009.
Robert was a hardworking, selfless, and strong family man who's light will continue to guide those he left his mark on.
Robert is survived by his son, Joshua Hoyt and wife Shana, his two granddaughters, Casidhe Hoyt and Amiste Cusson of Canterbury, and sweet great-granddaughter, Marley Grace; his daughter, Robin and husband Ronald Hart of Dayville, and grandchildren, Ryan, Sean, and Angie Hart.
A graveside service will be announced at a later date at All Hallows Cemetery.

Bob was an intelligent, caring family man with a wonderful, contagious smile. While he will be missed by many, may our loving memories of time together with him bring comfort to his family and friends.

Bob was a wonderful person. He would make a point to sit and visit after his job was done. I know my parents would want me to remember Bob fondly for them. They enjoyed his company very much. I also met Bob at their home on several occasions. He was quick with a smile, cheerful, kind, and a talented carpenter. My deepest sympathy to Josh and Robin, and all of Bobs family.
