Thomas Morosky Obituary

THOMAS MICHAEL MOROSKY 1953 - 2017
NEW LONDON - Thomas Michael Morosky, 63, died on February 15, 2017, succumbing to the addiction demons with which he struggled for most of his adult life. Tom was born to Thomas and Lorraine Valentine Morosky in Norwich, CT, where he spent all of his happy childhood. He attended Norwich public schools and Norwich Free Academy, where he followed in the footsteps of his father and uncles as a distinguished athlete, playing both baseball and football, for which he earned a varsity letter. Tom graduated from Norwich University in Northfield VT, in 1976, and married his beautiful wife, Mary Denise (Denni) Ryan. He went on to have a successful career in sales. Like his father, Tom had the gift of gab and a personality that would light up the room. He worked for AEG Power Tools and Black and Decker. In the 1990's Tom found peace in the Lord at the Salvation Army Adult Recovery Center in Portland, ME, where he made a second career for himself as a counselor, intake coordinator, and supervisor. In January of 2016, Tom moved to New London, where he found shelter and assistance at the Homeless Hospitality Center. In his final days, Tom was living at Parkside South Apartments in New London, where he was helped and watched over by his lifelong friend Andrea Schnip-Mendes and her daughter, Jade. Tom is survived by his parents, his son, Matthew Thomas, of Los Angeles, CA, his sister, Pamela Morosky Edson, his nephew, TC Meyer, and his ex-wife, Denni Ryan. In accordance with his wishes, Tom will be cremated. A celebration of his life will be held at a future date when his son Matthew can be present to remember the good times we all shared. Donations in Tom's memory to the New London Homeless Hospitality Center (325 Huntington Street, New London, CT 06320) would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe it was not a coincidence that you were in a dream of mine just the other day. I have not been happy as of late, but you took me to a place and time where everything was good, and our family's were together and enjoying life. I thank you for that and still remember your life, my old friend.

Tommy was a dear friend. My first love as 7th graders. His family felt like my family and being a part of their lives in my formative years is cherished. We had many lovely times together and I consider some my most beloved of all memories. It's so very hard to express the sadness adequately when thinking of the joy he brought to my life and others due to his genuine an infectious charismatic personality. Dear Tommy, you will be truly missed. I have and will always love you.
Heartfelt condolences to his family.

My memories of Tom are from those early days of midget football 50 years ago as teammates on the Colts as well as his visits to Greeneville to see his cousins. I wish his closest friends and relatives peace and strength during this sad and difficult time.

In reading what others are saying here, it's obvious my old friend touched so many with his natural warmth and outgoing personality. All of us, even a childhood friend like myself are left with memories of an all-around natural talent and easy going personality that drew us in and made us smile.
Rest in peace Tom "Tommy" Morosky.

So sad to hear this news...Tom was a great guy and teammate. Tough and funny! He was a positive influence in the locker room, and I can't remember him dropping very many passes, if any. If it was a 50/50 ball - he was hauling it in!
