William Todd Obituary

William Todd Jr. December 27, 1936 - April 3, 2011 Norwich - William A. Todd Jr., 74, of 50 Palmer St., died Sunday afternoon at the Backus Hospital. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on December 27, 1936 the son of the late William A. and Estelle (Cooke) Todd Sr. Bill served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant First Class. He retired from the 76th Division Reserved in 1995 with 23 years of service. He was last employed as a Security Guard with Special Operations Security Force in the local area before retiring on October 21, 2005. He was a member of the Sprague Rod & Gun Club, the V.F.W. Post 10004 of Jewett City, the American Legion Post #4 Norwich, the NRA and the PLAV 132 of Norwich. On March 31, 1979 he married Doris (Poncin) Todd in Norfolk, NY who survives him. Besides his wife he is survived by one son, William A. Todd III of Northwood, NH; one step daughter, Nancy Franklin of Norwich; five brothers, Joseph Todd of Long Island NY, John Todd of Reno, NV, Walter Todd of Tacoma, WA, Paul Todd of Reno, NV and Michael Todd of San Antonio, TX; his grandchildren, Jillian Franklin, Sara Franklin, Jack Sweeney, William A. Todd IV, Anna Sweeney and Dillon Todd and Madeline Todd and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one daughter, Madeline Amy Sweeney. Calling hours at the Guillot Funeral Home, 75 South B. St., Taftville, will be Wednesday from 5-7 P.M. with a funeral service at 7:00 P.M. Military Honors will follow service. Burial will be private. Please omit flowers.
