Beverly Zahl Obituary

Beverly Ann (Williams) Zahl, 72, of North Platte, passed away May 5, 2021, at her home. She was born Nov. 11, 1948, to Lloyd and Julia (Borszich) Williams in Valentine. Bev grew up in Crookston and attended Valentine High School until her junior year. She then went to Lincoln Northeast High School and graduated in 1967. After graduating, she moved back to Valentine where she began her career in dental assisting. Bev retired in 2015 after working for 45-plus years. She loved her job, co-workers and patients. On Nov. 26, 1971, in Crookston, Bev married the love of her life, John Zahl. They lived out on the ranch in Woodlake until they moved to North Platte in 1972. To this union two children were born, Justin and Julie. Bev was truly one in a million. She loved everybody and didn't think of anyone as a stranger. She was a spunky woman who was always down to dance. Her smile was contagious and she loved spending time with her family. Bev put a lot of love into her cooking and everyone would say that she was the best cook. She welcomed anyone into her home. When you would see Bev out and about, she would always be with her sister, Connie, who was her best friend. They were two peas in a pod. Bev was proud of her three grandchildren, Annah, Jace and Cloe, and loved to spend time with them. Bev was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd Williams and Julia and Gordon Holbrook; two sisters, Carol Schwanz and Jean Bagwell; brother, Sunny Williams; niece, Carla Schwanz; mother-in-law, Vera Zahl; and father-in-law, John Zahl. Bev is survived by husband, John Zahl; son, Justin Zahl of North Platte; daughter, Julie (Chad) Wareham of Hershey; grandchildren, Jace Zahl and Annah and Cloe Wareham; sister, Connie (John) Schaefer of North Platte; brother, Donald Holbrook of Lacey, Washington; sisters-in-law, Charlene Roth of Richmond, Texas, and Ginger Zahl of Axtel; many special nieces and nephews; and numerous other family members and friends. Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice. Online condolences may be shared at adamsswanson.com. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, May 10, at Fort McPherson National Cemetery, near Maxwell, with Pastor Willie Roberts officiating. A meal will be served at the Moose Lodge following the service. The service will be livestreamed via the Adams & Swanson Facebook page for those unable to attend. Those wishing to sign the memory book may do so from noon to 4 p.m., with family present 2-4 p.m., Sunday, May 9, at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

I met Bev through the dentist office. I loved seeing her there & through our visiting, I found out she was Justin's mom. I met him through my husband, Tagg, at UP Engineer Service in Chicago, IL. She was a beautiful lady & I missed seeing her at the dentist office after she retired. I was happy I ran into her at Walmart quite a few months ago & we had a lengthy visit. She had a way of making anyone who knew her feel special! She spoke often of her family & she was so proud! She had a contagious smile, a gentle heart & a loving spirit! We are so sorry for your great loss! She will be missed by many! May the Lord wrap you in His love & bring you His peace now & in the days ahead!
