Ethan Brittenham Obituary

Ethan Max Brittenham

August 14, 2008 - April 22, 2025

Ethan Max Brittenham, 16, of North Platte, passed away on April 22, 2025.

He was born on Aug. 14, 2008, to Alicia Tschetter Brittenham and Duane Brittenham and was a sophomore at North Platte High School.

Ethan was a kind, hardworking young man with a quiet confidence and a generous spirit. He loved the outdoors, especially deer season, and was never afraid of a hard day's work. He had a passion for welding, recently placing third in the state Skills USA competition, and dreamed of turning it into a career. He also loved adventure, traveling to Alaska, flying with his grandpa, and restoring his beloved '59 Chevy truck.

Ethan is remembered for his big heart, love for animals, quick wit, and playful spirit. Whether he was racing go-karts, playing video games, cooking chuck wagon beans, or helping someone with any chore they asked him to do, he brought joy to those around him.

The family members who preceded him in death were his grandfathers, Gary Brittenham, Thomas Tschetter, and Duane Knepke.

Survivors include his parents; his grandparents, Betty Knepke-Hamit and Carl Hamit of Wallace, Mary Tschetter of South Carolina and Denise Brittenham of Gothenburg; his uncle, Dale Brittenham of North Platte; his cousaunt, Erin Anderson and funcle, Brady Shelbourn of Minneapolis; his godparents, Treg and Cameron Vyzourek of Superior; and great-aunts, great-uncles and cousins of the Tschetter, Anderson, Hamit, and Knepke families. He also held a special place in his heart for his "Aunt" Krissy Rumery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.

Service is at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 26, at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Patrick Sipes officiating. Those wishing to sign the book may do so from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, April 25, at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

It´s taken me awhile to put my thoughts into words. Ethan was truly a shining light. His quick wit and humor always made me laugh. Certain people leave a permanent stamp on your heart and Ethan was one of those souls. God needed his pure soul and kind heart even though it leaves a hole in all of those who knew and loved him.

We are heartbroken for your loss. Ethan was such a delightful young man. Bob and I enjoyed Ethans visits and felt so honored that he would take the time to walk over and spend time with us. He was always respectful and made us feel so special. May God comfort your hearts and give you strength. Loving prayers for you and your family.

What a sweet loveable little boy to me! He had such a sweet but mischievous smile but always respectful. Alisha and Duane rely on God to give you strength as there are so much sorrow ahead but he will be there and will understand your pain and grief even when you don’t!
Blessing and love

Ethan was a great friend for me and everyone around us. Favorite memory was probably singing California girls at the top of our lungs in small engines last year. He always cheered me up in geometry and we always helped each other out with the homework. Fly high brother, your in a better place now.
