John Tines Obituary

KEARNEY - John G. Tines, 44, of Kearney died Saturday, Feb. 4, 2007, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.

He was born Oct. 8, 1962, in McCook to Gayle and Patricia (Madden) Tines. He attended school in McCook and was a 1981 graduate of McCook High School. He graduated from McCook Community College in 1986. He was a member of the Army National Guard for 11 years. He was currently enrolled at Central Community College.

He was married to Debra Stegman in Grand Island Aug. 5, 1989.

He worked for the U.S. Postal Service in North Platte before living in Minnesota and Wisconsin, working in construction as a block tender.

He had been a resident of Kearney for three years.

His pastimes included fishing, hunting, cooking and spending time with his son, nieces and nephews.

Survivors include his son, John Patrick of North Platte; his parents of Kearney; brother, Mick of North Platte; sister, Lisa Hullinger of Kearney; nieces and nephews, Crista and Jamie Tines and Madison, Andrew and Michael Hullinger.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Elizabeth Madden and Zolona Chinn.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. today, Feb. 6, at St. James Catholic Church in Kearney. The Rev. Matt Koperski will officiate. Interment will be at 3 p.m. at St. Catherine's Cemetery in Indianola.

Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the church. O'Brien-Straatmann-Apfel Funeral Home of Kearney is in charge.

I always considered "Johnny" a good friend. I am sorry to hear of his passing. From Little League baseball through MHS and beyond. He will be missed! You all are in my thoughts and prayers!
