Kenneth Masakatsu Okamoto, 85, of North Platte, passed away on May 7, 2021, at Linden Court after a battle with pneumonia. He was born on Feb. 17, 1936, in North Platte to Isojo and Shigemi Okamoto. Kenneth grew up in North Platte and graduated from North Platte Senior High School. He joined and proudly served in the United States Air Force for 27 years, with one tour in Vietnam, and was honorably discharged on July 31, 1977. Kenneth later worked for the United States Post office before his retirement. He was united in marriage to Lucette Rigollot on April 27, 1957, at Essey Les Ponts, France, and to this union, three sons were born: David, Dominique and Danny. After France, the couple lived in several places around the world. He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; one sister; and his son, Dominique. Kenneth is survived by his wife, Lucette; two sons, David (Lesley) Okamoto of Lincoln and Daniel (Michelle) Okamoto of Kearney; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Memorials are suggested to the family. Online condolences may be shared at A memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday, May 17, at Carpenter Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Ness officiating. Burial will be at Fort McPherson National Cemetery, near Maxwell, with full military honors provided by the United States Air Force. Book signing will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 16, at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which is entrusted with arrangements.

Dear Aunt Lulu, and David and Danny, We are sending you our love. We will always remember our wonderful European holiday with you five. Uncle Kenny was such a fun person. It was so good to see him and Aunt Lulu, and all the cousins after so long.

Ken was an honorable man, father, and husband. He will be missed greatly by all who knew him. I grew up with his son Dan, who I'll always consider as one of my best friends. Deepest condolenes. My prayers are for Ken and the family at this time of tragic loss and always.
