Larry Dean Neal, 86, of North Platte, passed away on Dec. 5, 2025.

He was born on Aug. 11, 1939, to Harold and Maxine Neal of Tryon, and grew up with the strong values and quiet determination that marked his life.

Larry proudly served his country in the United States Army from January 1958 to January 1961. After his service, he dedicated many years to the Union Pacific Railroad as an electrician, where he built a long and respected career before retiring.

On Feb. 4, 1968, Larry married the love of his life, Sharon Thomas. Together, they raised two sons, Scott (Robyn) Neal and Tim (Barbara) Neal. They later welcomed four grandchildren, Brent, Ridge, Jake and Jayden, who brought him great joy.

Larry loved the Western way of life. He enjoyed team roping, hauling his boys to rodeos, and spending time with his family. Known for his happy, positive outlook, he was the kind of man who would help anyone in need.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sharon; his brother, Roger; and his infant twin brothers.

Larry will be remembered for his warmth, generosity, and the legacy of love, hard work, and kindness he leaves behind.

Memorial service is at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, at Carpenter Memorial Chapel with Mark Baldwin as officiant. Inurnment and committal service for Larry and Sharon follows at 3 p.m. at Fort McPherson National Cemetery, near Maxwell. Book signing is from noon to 7, with family present to greet friends from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 11, at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which is entrusted with arrangements.
