Marvin Gove Obituary

Marvin Earl Gove

January 14, 1941 - November 18, 2025

Marvin Earl Gove, 84, of North Platte, passed away on Nov. 18, 2025, at Great Plains Health.

He was born on Jan. 14, 1941, to Earl and Winnie (Main) Gove in Cambridge.

Marvin graduated from North Platte High School with the class of 1959. He married Katherine Ann Pinkerton on Nov. 19, 1961, in Tryon. The couple lived in Omaha before moving back to the Pinkerton Ranch near Tryon until 1967. They moved to North Platte, where Marvin worked for Callihan Kaschke Company until he retired in 2006.

Marvin was a member of Parkview Nazarene Church. He helped with the church bus ministry, inner church reserve, and was very helpful around the church with physical work. He always made coffee for Sunday School. He enjoyed attending as many activities as he could for his grandchildren and he loved to work on cars and small engines. Marvin will be remembered as a quiet man of very few words.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Winnie; wife, Katherine; son, Marvin "Marty" Gove Jr.; sisters, Esther Terpenning and Liz (Les) Cole; and brother-in-law, Art Georgelas.

Survivors include his children, Terry Gove of Kearney, Cindy (Norm) Bomberger and Mary Gove, all of North Platte, Kevin Gove of Colorado, and Charity Gove and Tony (Katrina) Gove, all of North Platte; grandchildren, Chris (Jenn) Gove of Elkhorn, Ashley (Allyn) Webb of Salida, Colorado, Ben (Hayley) Gove of Elkhorn, John Bomberger of Kearney, Austin (Tara) Bomberger of Elkhorn, Sara Bihlmaier of Gretna, and Alex Gove and Savanna Gove, both of North Platte; great-grandchildren, Madisyn Wilcox, Liam Gove, Emery Gove and Camden Gove; sisters, Elaine Georgelas of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Evelyn (R.D.) Ulrich of Alabama; brother, Milton (Laura) Gove of Florida; brother and sister-in-law, Jim (Janea) Pinkerton Jr. of North Platte; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and many friends.

Memorials are suggested to Parkview Church of the Nazarene. Online condolences may be shared at adamsswanson.com.

Service is at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, at the Parkview Church of the Nazarene with Pastor James Trippett officiating. Burial follows at the North Platte Cemetery. Visitation is from noon to 7 p.m., with family present 5-7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 21, at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

Though Marvin was a man of few words, he was a great Brother and I will miss him deeply.

I remember Marvin singing specials in church. He was quiet, but always knew he was a man dedicated to serving the church and God. Both Marvin and Kathy were good Christian examples to me during my growing up years.
