Theodore Shirley Obituary

Theodore "Ted" Steven Shirley, 50, of North Platte, died Thursday, Aug. 4, 2011 at his home in North Platte.
Ted was born on March 30, 1961, in Denver to William Gerald and Arelene Elizabeth Shore Shirley. He grew up in the Stockville and Maywood area. After his schooling, Ted, his mother and his brothers and sister moved back to Denver.
Ted married Robin Eileen Jones on Nov. 12, 1981, in Denver, where they lived until 1993. They then moved to Norton, Kan., before moving to North Platte in February 1995. Ted owned a mobile repair service in Denver and did mechanic work in Norton and North Platte, until he got his C.D.L. in 2002. Ted then worked for Bowley Trucking and D.O.M. Harvesters before becoming self-employed.
Survivors include his wife, Robin; his daughter, Sarah Irene Curtis and husband, Joseph Lee Curtis; his two sons, Paul William Shirley and Matthew Steven Shirley; his grandson, Kaiden Lee Curtis, all of North Platte; his sister, Geraldine Cutler, of Folsom, Calif.; his brothers, Bob Alberts, of Great Bend, Kan., Shawn and wife, Melody Alberts, of Arapahoe, Mike Alberts, of Waupun, Wis., Ed and wife, Sarah Shirley, of Hawaii, and Phil Shirley, of Ashland; many nieces, nephews and other family.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, at Odean Colonial Chapel At C & Sycamore. Inurnment will be in the Stockville Cemetery at a later date. Cremation was chosen. In lieu of flowers the family has established a memorial. The memorial book may be signed at odeanchapel.com or at Odean Colonial Chapel At C & Sycamore before services.
