Anna Cockrell Obituary
The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 16, 2025 from 6 to 8 PM at Maddox Funeral Home, 105 West Main Street, Front Royal.
Mrs. Cockrell was born on May 22, 1931 in Clifton, Virginia to the late Charles and Josephine Ritzer Cockrell. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Edward Detwiler Sr. and four siblings. She retired from the Warren County School Board.
Survivors include her three sons, Gordon E. Detwiler Jr. of Front Royal, Charles Nelson Detwiler of Waterlick, Virginia and Earl Richard Detwiler of Petersburg, Virginia; daughter, Jonnie Hicks of Strasburg, Virginia; sister, Jessie Timmons of Winchester; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 West Cork Street, Winchester, Virginia 22601.
