Susie and The Richard Family,
Please accept my heartfelt sympathy upon the passing of your loved one Charlie. I remember Charlie as a little boy when you family lived in town behind the old bank and close to the train depot. Susie and Helen was close in age to me and we used to play out on the street. I always thought of Charlie as Susie's baby brother, he was so cute and little. Also, whenever I think of the Firemen's carnivals here in Mt. Jackson, the entire Richard family is always in my memory, good memories and good times. Charlie was always so friendly and always spoke and smiled. I know God will help you during this trying time and he will be taking care of Charlie now. You are left with the beautiful and grateful memories of Charlie and his life. I know Ruth and Charlie Sr is left with another hole in there heart, but with the love of God and your big loving families you are in good hands. May God bless all of you at this time.

Hello Charles,
When you spoke everyone always listened. As a little girl, I remember sitting at your house, at Grandma Lizzie's and at Aunt Ruth & Uncle Charlie's listening to you tell joke after joke and story after story without any interruption. You were so proud of your talent, as you should have been, and I remember riding with you and your drums were always in tow. I always enjoyed listening to you play those drums and watch you play a beat on whatever available surface. You could be in the middle of a conversation and hear a tune and all of a sudden begin singing, stomping your foot and playing the beat. You were a unique individual. You will always be in my thoughts in one way or another. Until we see one another again...
Love, Summer

charles I know you know how much you meant to me and how much I loved you as your family did. I know you will be missed so much by Mary,Holly,Bo and Maj.and all the people's lives you touched while your short time here on earth we do not understand a lot of things I believe most of all death.I know we are to except the things that god has put into order and not question why things are as they are but our first response is why? It's funny when god allowed his sun to die for us we never ask why? I will miss you so much words cannot express the hole that your death left in my heart the day I heard the words he's gone but the beauty of it all I will see you again and we will laugh just like we use to.I also want Mary to know that I will always be there. I know friends and family will be there also because Mary is loved as much.I love you charles and will never forget you. { Your Baby Sister}

Uncle Charles, I just want to let you know that I will always love you. You were the greatest uncle a person could have. I will never forget the time I rode with you, Holly, and Mary to Chicago. At that time, I thought it was the worst 14 hours of my life. Gosh, that was a long ride. Now when I look back on that trip we took, I really think that trip brought us closer together. I remember you calling me to get all the details about my wedding, you were coming and it didn't matter how far you had to travel. You were one of the first people I talked to after Peyton was born. You called periodically saying how's the little one bc you hadn't gotten any recent pictures of him. You always supported my sister and I in everything we did and that really meant a lot. I know that the reason you were taken away so soon was because God needed the best drummer in the world for Heaven's Band. Mary, Holly, and Amy - I know we have not always done what we should but just know that I am here for you all. If there is anything I can do, please let me know. I am only a phone call away and just 3.5 hours by car. I love you all. You all are in our thoughts and prayers. Uncle Charles never got to see Peyton in person, but I know that he is the angel sitting by his bedside when I am not there.

It has been a long time since I saw you "Chaz" but I always thought about you. Back then you were like a big brother, letting me borrow your drums, hunting with you, Gary and PyeYoe. (In your blue Ford van!) You were always tapping your fingers to a song, I still have that habit today, and my son does it too! You were an awesome drummer but more importantly a great guy. And the most important thing, I know I will see you again in Heaven. My prayers go out to all the Richard family.

I didn't mind. I will miss your phone calls and the jokes. but I know you are keeping the angels laughing in heaven . your sister susie

I KNOW YOU HAVEN'T MISS A BEAT WITH THOSE STICKS OF YOURS, YOU ALWAYS WERE THE LIFE OF THE PARTY AND IT WILL NEVER BE THE SAME WITHOUT YOU. I LOVE AND MISS YOU AND KNOW THAT SOMEDAY WE WILL BE TOGETHER AGAIN AND OH WHAT A HAPPY DAY THAT WILL BE. TAKE CARE AND MAY YOU REST IN PEACE. GOD KNEW HE HAD A SPECIAL ANGEL WHEN YOU WENT TO BE WITH HIM. TO THE FAMILY I CONSIDER MY SECOND FAMILY-I AM SO BLESSED AND HONORED TO HAVE HAD CHARLES AS MY "BROTHER" IN THIS LIFE-HE HAD THE MOST INFECTIOUS LAUGH AND ALL HE HAD TO DO WAS SMILE OR JUST SAY ONE WORD TO ME AND IT WOULD MAKE ME LAUGH.
HE HAD THE KINDEST HEART AND WOULD DO ANYTHING FOR ANYONE AND HIS LOVE OF MUSIC WAS AMAZING. WHEN HE PLAYED THOSE DRUMS IN A BAND OR EVEN WHEN I WOULD BE AT HIS PARENTS HOUSE AND HE WAS PLAYING, IT JUST GAVE ME CHILLS. HE WAS SUCH AN AWESOME DRUMMER. AND I KNOW IT WORE HIM OUT SOMETIMES BUT IF HE COULD PLAY "WIPE OUT" ALL NIGHT, I COULD LISTEN TO IT.
TO MARY, MOM & DAD AND ALL OF YOU, I LOVE YOU, YOU WILL BE IN MY PRAYERS AND GOD KNOWS YOU ARE STRUGGLING RIGHT NOW BUT HE HAS GIVEN YOU SO MANY WONDERFUL MEMORIES TO THINK BACK ON AND BE THANKFUL FOR THAT WILL HELP IN HEALING YOUR HEARTS AND KNOW THAT CHARLES IS STILL WITH US ALWAYS.
HE IS LOOKING DOWN ON US AND EVEN THOUGH IT IS HARD FOR US TO REALIZE NOW HE IS TRYING TO LET US KNOW THAT HE IS OK AND HE WANTS US ALL TO GO ON AND ENJOY LIFE JUST AS HE DID WITH HIS FAMILY AND SO MANY FRIENDS.
IF YOU WANT OR NEED ME TO DO ANYTHING FOR YOU I WANT YOU TO CALL ME. YOU KNOW I'M NOT FAR AWAY. YOU WILL ALL BE IN MY HEART AND PRAYERS AND THANK ALL OF YOU FOR BLESSING MY LIFE BY BEING IN IT.
LOVE AND PRAYERS,
L MURPHY

I can hardly believe that I'm writing 'condolences' to the family of someone who still seems like a kid to me ... so young, full of life, and with the biggest smile on his face for everyone he met. I'll always remember Charlie as the 'best drummer' I've ever heard ... he ranked right up there with the best of them. Charlie's family can be proud of the boy he used to be and the good man he became ... he was a wonderful husband and father, son and brother. Mary and daughters, Charlie, Ruth and family ... with fond memories, we send our prayers and condolences at this most difficult time.

Dear Mary, Holly & Amy...Ruth & Charlie Richard...and Susie & Barbara,
My heartfelt sympathy goes out to each of you, for we all know how special Charles was to each of us. God has decided that He wanted Charles to come home...and play his special music just for Him. We know that things will never be the same here without him on Earth, but we do know that by being with God, he is truly at home.
My fondest memory is of us as kids, marching up Main Street, with Charles at the head of the pack, banging on that old lard keg (smile)...we were having our own parade! These memories have always meant so much to me; how blessed I am to have had the good fortune of having Charles as my cousin.
It's my genuine hope that during this difficult time, you will all take many, many moments out of your respective days to remember all the goodness that was Charles. Please take tremendous comfort in knowing that only the physical aspect of each of us passes away; his spirit will live on forever and ever. Thank-you, Charles, for all that you meant to each of us--collectively and individually. You will always be cherished.
May the Good Lord comfort each of you today and each day you live. You're in my thoughts and prayers.

I was shocked and saddened to hear about Charles. I laugh everytime I thinking about hearing him practice the drums. You could hear it throughout the entire neighborhood. And, I always looked forward to parades where the SJ band was marching because I knew he'd be on those drums!! And, we always have those memories of playing softball in the backyard (when we had about 20 people on each team). Charlie, Ruth, Barbara, Susie, Lina, I am so sorry for your loss and I will be praying for you.
