Christopher McCormick Obituary

Christopher Sean McCormick, born on April 16, 1986, entered the gates of Heaven on March 5, 2021 at the age of 35.

Chris was a 2004 graduate of Central High School in Woodstock, VA and studied at Virginia Tech University.

Chris is preceded in death by his mother, Andrea Marie Beavers.

He is survived by his sister, Gretchen Elaine Beavers, of North Canton, OH, and, his father, Sean Christopher McCormick, of Strasburg, VA. In addition, Chris leaves behind countless relatives and friends.

Chris was a kinetic life force. A man whose profound brilliance, enchanting charisma, deep devotion, and powerful love knew no bounds. An indomitable spirit that could not be contained by society's boxes Chris chose the path less traveled. A thinker and a romantic, the man invented geospatial social networking a decade before it became mainstream. This was just a single moment among thousands when his abilities flashed superhuman. Chris was an inspiration in every facet of life. A comic artist, musician, academic, linguist, scientist, entrepreneur, philosopher, writer, director, cinematographer, soccer player, track star, and basketball junkie; Chris was all of these and many more. Blessed with an undeniable charm, he was a dogged competitor who refused to lose. Jim Carrey is a poor man's Chris McCormick. Beyond all of these incredible talents, Chris possessed the faith, confidence, and courage to display one of God's greatest gifts - the ability to see and love others for exactly who they were. He was a man of the people and a brother to all. Chris leaves a huge hole in the hearts and lives of many. For those that had the privilege of knowing Chris, the Earth was a better place because of his existence.

A Celebration of Life will be private, and hosted in Strasburg, Virginia, at a date later to be determined.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, all memorial contributions be made to:
The Evans Home for Children

I was best friends with Christopher's mother Andrea, I remember the day he was born, he was a beautiful baby and grew into a very handsome young man, I lost touch with Andrea 's children as they grew up, we all lived in the same apartment building when our kids were little, rest in peace , handsome young man, Gretchen, my heart goes out to you, "God Speed" Christopher, your mother loved you so!

As Chris's aunt, Sean's sister, I remember Chris as a very in-depth, totally focused, extremely artistic child. The world was his, especially the ice cream in B-B's (paternal grandmother's - Eve M. N. McCormick's) freezer. If you don't believe it, ask his cousin Eliza. He was one of the most brilliant, thoughtful and talented children I ever knew and I taught high school for almost 30 years. He could get the devil to believe him because he had inherited that Irish "gift-of-gab" from his paternal grandfather Robert N. McCormick. Both of his paternal grandparents thought he could do just about anything with his life.... maybe even walk on water.

He was a remarkable young man who left this world way too early at the age of 34, just shy of his 35th birthday. I don't believe, like many in an afterlife, but I am certain my parents and Chris' mother, as well as other relatives, who did believe, have already welcomed Chris into their arms. Have peace now, my young nephew!
