Douglas Wayne "Buster" Ramos Sr., U.S. Navy Ret., 67, of Maurertown, Virginia, passed away suddenly Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Shenandoah Memorial Hospital in Woodstock.

A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, October 16 at 2 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home with Sammy Campbell officiating.

Mr. Ramos was born December 23, 1950 in Front Royal, son of the late James Brown Sealock and Genevieve Ramos.

He was a graduate of Warren County High School and went on to further his education graduating from Shenandoah University in Winchester.

Mr. Ramos retired from the United States Navy after many dedicated years of service.

He was a member of the Giles B. Cook Post 53 of the American Legion holding many offices throughout his tenure, Department Sergeant at Arms, Department Vice Commander, State Commander from 2011-2012, member of the finance committee, Sons of the American Legion and served on some other committees at the national level. He was a Freemason with Unity Lodge No.146 A.F. &A.M., member of the Loyal Order of the Moose #829, B.P.O.E. Lodge #2382 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Surviving are his loving and devoted wife of 33 years, Sharon Ramos; one son, Douglas W. Ramos Jr. (Susan) of Shenandoah; two daughters, Elizabeth Gabriel Pope (Chris) of Hope Mills, North Carolina and Laura Ramos Hammersley (Jon) of Mt. Jackson; one brother, James Turner Sealock (Linda) of Browntown; one sister, Juanita Birchfield (Lyle) of Middletown; and eight grandchildren.

Mr. Ramos was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Martha Judd.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 16 from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Giles B. Cook Post 53 of the American Legion, 22 West 8th Street, Front Royal, VA 22630; the Humane Society of Warren County, 1245 Progress Drive, Front Royal, VA 22630; or the Shenandoah County Department of Fire and Rescue, 600 North Main Street #109, Woodstock, VA 22664.

Arrangements are being handled by Maddox Funeral Home, Front Royal.

Buster and his Post members were so nice and considerate of the Drivers and patients on the VTN van on the stop in route to appointments at the Martinsburg VA hospital. May he rest in peace and prayers for the family.
