Ernest W. Fadely

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ernest William Fadely, known to all as Bill, who departed this life on Thursday morning, September 25, 2025, at 6:32 a.m. at UVA Health. He was 88 years old.

Bill proudly served his country as a Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force, dedicating 21 years of honorable service. His career carried him across the globe-from Japan to Italy, Morocco to the United States-with service extending through Asia, Europe, and Africa. Following his military career, he continued his devotion to justice and public service as a Magistrate for the Commonwealth of Virginia for over two decades, and also served as a Justice of the Peace. He was a man of few words, steady conviction, and strong integrity-one who always kept his word, cared deeply for his family, and carried himself with humility and respect.

Bill was a loving husband, a devoted father, and a proud grandfather. He is survived by his sons, Kevin Fadely and Scott Darin Fadely, as well as Kevin's wife, Julie Fadely, and their children, Austin Fadely and Layne Fadely. His late wife, with whom he shared many years of love and partnership, now welcomes him home as they are reunited in eternal rest.

The funeral service will be held at Columbia Furnace Methodist Church in Columbia Furnace, Virginia, on Friday, October 3, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Friends and family are welcome to gather beginning at 10:00 a.m. Family members will arrive at 9:30 a.m. Following the service, burial will take place across the street, where Bill will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife. A reception will be held afterward at the church.

The family kindly requests that all flowers and donations be directed to Heishman Funeral Home in Woodstock, Virginia, which is handling the arrangements.

Bill's life of honor, discipline, and devotion to both family and country leaves a lasting legacy. He will be remembered not only for his service but also for his quiet strength, his wit, and the unwavering example he set for all who knew him.
