Essie Gillispie Obituary


Essie Grant Gilllispie, 86, of Lynchburg, Va. passed away August 29, 2010.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd E. Gilllispie, a son William Gillispie and a daughter Deborah Gillispie.

She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Gillispie Canody and husband Gerald, a son Lloyd (Buck) Gilllispie, Jr. and wife Freida, and four grandchildren, Kathryn Canody Oates and husband David, Jeremy Todd Canody and wife Christie, Kimberly Canody Schafer, and Amanda Gillispie Blakenshipe. She has 10 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 pm on Thursday September 2, 2010 at the Tharp Funeral Home in Lynchburg.

A Celebration of Essie's life will be conducted at 11 am on Friday at the Fort Hill United Methodist Church in Lynchburg. Private internment will take place in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
