James Raymond Obituary
James E. Raymond, age 95 of Rockville, MD, passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at Greenfield Assisted Living of Woodstock, VA.
James was born on August 31, 1925 in Silver Spring Maryland. He was the son of the late Ralph Raymond and Louise Pettibone Brittain.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth Raymond of Rockville MD, his wife Josephine Raymond of Rockville MD, his brother Robert Raymond of North Carolina and his great grandson Brett Allen Cooper and great great grandson Noah Baker.
James is survived by his two daughters, Linda L. Cooper of Mount Jackson, VA and Brenda L. Spiker of Woodstock, VA; four step children, John S. Burke, Patricia A. Hoover, Judith E. Greenwalt and Gale M. Roscher; eight grandchildren, Butch Cooper & wife Julie, Mike Cooper & wife Jennifer, Doug Cooper & wife Jackie, Sherri Hurd and husband Chris, all of Woodstock, VA, Kim Blankenship and husband Don, Jamie Bryant, Crystal Sexton and husband Shannon, Jonathon Funkhouser, all of Edinburg, VA; 14 great-grandchildren, Jarrett Cooper and wife Nicole, Jordan Cooper, Corinne Cooper, Carly Cooper, Hayley Sherrill, Hannah Cooper, Gracelyn Cooper, Brandon Baker and wife Rayann, Emily Blankenship, Levi Blankenship, Austin Biller, Ashlie Bryant, Kaleb Spiker, Hailey Spiker; two great-great-grandchildren, Brett Cooper and Hunter Baker.
James was most proud of military service where he served in the US Navy during WWII at age 17, on the USS Fogg where he was an anti-aircraft gunner. After returning from WWII, he earned his GED and eventually went to work for the government where he retired as a manager. In his later years, he enjoyed sharing memories with his buddies at the local Dunkin Donut where you could find him every morning through the week at 7am sharp and spending time with his family and so many special friends. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten by his loving family and friends. God bless this sweet man.
A private service will be held with Military honors at Fort Lincoln Cemetery on Saturday, February 6 at 11pm.

Mr Raymond, was my neighbor since I was a child , he had a good sense of humor.
His daughter Brenda is like a sister to me.
My heart goes out to the family and I will pray for them.
