John E. Fields

John Everett Fields, 69, of Woodstock, passed away peacefully at home on October 15, 2025, surrounded by family.

Born November 30, 1955, in Woodstock, he was the son of the late Horace McNery Fields Sr. and Rosanna Scott Fields. He was preceded in death by brothers Horace Fields Jr. and Larry Fields, and sister Cynthia Brunson.

A 1975 graduate of Central High School, where he excelled in football and baseball, John was a devoted member of Mt. Zion Methodist Church and a long-time employee of IAC in Strasburg.

He is survived by brothers Robert and Richard Fields; nieces and nephews Adrian Fields (Margaret), Joanna Gilbert (Sheldon), Edward Williams, Kim Williams, Richard Toland, and Tyrone Fields; along with many great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.

His loyal fur baby, Brownie, was his pride and joy. John was also a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan.

John's authentic and outgoing nature made him a friend to all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his cousins, extended family, and the wide circle of friends whose lives he brightened with his humor and joy.

A Family Night will be held at Heishman Funeral Service in Woodstock on Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., and friends are welcome to join. A Celebration of Life will be held at Heishman Funeral Service in Woodstock on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Patti Brown will officiate. A repast will follow at Woodstock United Methodist Church, 156 S. Muhlenberg St., Woodstock, VA 22664.
