Larry A. Rickard

Larry Rickard, was born in Woodstock, Virginia in 1942. His parents were Truman and Mattie Rickard. Larry was raised, and lived most of his early life in Strasburg, VA . He graduated from Strasburg High School in 1960 and later from Baylor University in 1964. He was preceded in death by his father, Truman Rickard, his mother, Mattie Rickard, his brother, Truman Rickard Jr. and his, sister, Peggy May.

Larry, was, most recently a resident of South River, Villiage II in Stuart, Florida and passed away on March 8th. His husband, Jim Peed, whom he was with for 53 years, was by his side. Larry fought Parkinson's for 22 years.

Larry was in the Army in the mid-60s. He later worked for the Democratic National Committee in Washington, D.C. Later still for Vice-President Walter Mondale, finally retiring in 2002 from the National Endowment for the Arts.

Besides Larry's husband he leaves behind a brother, Donald Rickard in Wisconsin, nieces, Deborah Besley, nephews, Jeffery Rickard and Donald Rickard Jr. in Virginia and Barbara Icyda of Stuart, Florida.

There have been no plans for a formal ceremony at this time but that may change in the future. Larry's cremated remains are with his husband at this time.

It is the hope of Jim, that you, if you so desire, support the Treasure Coast Hospice in Larry's name. That is a wonderful organization and deserves anything you feel you can spare. They treated Larry for his last eleven days with the utmost care and love. He could not have been in better hands.
