Lawrence Cook Obituary


Lawrence "Larry" Richard Cook, 77, of Edinburg, passed away Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at Winchester Medical Center. A graveside service will be held Sunday, July 25 at 2:00 p.m. at Saumsville Christian Church Cemetery. Pastor Joe Fleming will officiate.

Mr. Cook was born September 5, 1943, in Ft. Meade, South Dakota, son of the late Arie Dale Cook and LaRee Mabel Nultimeier Cook. He was an army veteran of the Vietnam War and retired from Wal-Mart in Winchester.

He is preceded in death by his brothers, Donald Cook, Gerald Cook, and Kenneth Cook.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Harriet Doane Cook; son, Michael A. Cook and wife Danette R. of Staunton; daughter, Julie A. Kelley and husband Daniel of Edinburg; brother, Joel Cook and wife Donna of Falls Church; two grandchildren, Justin Kelley and wife Amber of Bryce and Kayla Sampson and husband Jaime of Mt. Jackson and six great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Kidney Fund (AKF), 11921 Rockville Pike, Suite 300, Rockville, MD 20852.
