On Wednesday, November 5, 2025, Lorretta Marie Murphy, 62, of Strasburg, the daughter of the Reverend Doctor Tom Murphy and Dreanna Murphy departed this life to be with her Heavenly Father. Known by many as Lorrie, she was born on February 22, 1963, at Duke Hospital in Durham, North Carolina.
She was a resident of Strasburg, Virginia and pursued her profession as a Radiological Tech for twenty-nine years at the Warren County Hospital in Front Royal, Virginia. Lorrie was a graduate of Virginia Wesleyan University in Virginia Beach, Virginia, Rockingham Memorial Hospital school of Radiologic Technology with further studies at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia. She was certified with the American Radiological Technologists as a Radiographer, Computer Tomographer, and a Mammographer.
Lorrie loved life and exhibited such in the way she embraced her work, serving others and experiencing the world of travel. She visited lands far and wide in Europe, Alaska, and South America always excited with new sites and sounds. She taught in grade school children of military families in Giada, Italy and instructed students in radiological modalities at Winchester Hospital. Lorrie cherished such opportunities.
Lorrie loved and cherished her family with whom she was very close. She is survived by her parents, the Reverend Dr. Tom Murphy and Dreanna Murphy; two brothers, Tom Murphy, III (wife Jackie), Foster Murphy, Sr. (wife Michelle); and nieces, Kaitlyn McComb, Brenna Murphy, and nephews, Blane Murphy and Foster Murphy, II.
A nephew, Jason Murphy preceded her in death.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Asbury United Methodist Church in Harrisonburg, Virginia or Warren County Hospital Foundation in Front Royal.
A memorial service will be conducted 11:00 am, Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Asbury United Methodist Church with the Reverend Susan Reaves, Dr. Tom Murphy, and the Reverends David Drinkard and Danny Kessner. Following the service there will be a reception in the fellowship hall of the church. A private interment will be held at East Lawn Memorial Cemetery.
