Margaret Luttrell Obituary

Margaret Wilson Hickerson Luttrell, 95, of Frederick County, Virginia died Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at Ruxton Health Care Center in Winchester.

Margaret was born November 20, 1912 in Clarke County, VA, the daughter of Daniel Thomas Hickerson Sr. and Lena Rutherford Hickerson, deceased. She was married on February 18, 1933, in Martinsburg, WVA, to the late John R. Luttrell, Sr.

A homemaker for most of her life, Margaret also worked part-time as a manager at both the Motel Modernaire and Elms Motel. She loved having her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren around her at all times. Daytime soaps, the evening news, crossword puzzles, and word searches gave her much pleasure.

Margaret was a charter member of Sunnyside Presbyterian Church, and a member of the Stephens City Senior Center.

She is survived by three children: June Shifflett (Russell) of Winchester; John R. Luttrell Jr. (Shelby) of Stephens City; Carol L. Sealock (William) of Leonburg, Germany and one brother: Daniel T. Hickerson Jr. (Thelma), of Winchester.

Grandchildren: Karen Cowherd (Robin) of Norfolk; Donna Howard (Robert) of Holiday, FL; Larry Shifflett (Teresa) of Winchester; Allen Shifflett of Wardensville, WV; Laura Shifflett of Winchester; John C. Luttrell (Vicky) of Clearwater, FL; Amy Sealock of Front Royal; David Sealock of Manassas; J. Daniel Sealock of Ashburn; Judy Sonafrank (David) of Elkton; Myra Sterns (Brian) of Harrisburg, NC; Liz Hillyard (Pat) of Charlotte, NC; Georgie Schmidt (David) of Milwaukee, WI; Betsy Jenkins (Mark) of Winchester; Julie Lapean (Jim) of Leesburg; Ozzy Frazier of Berryville.

Great-Grandchildren: Diron Corrigan, Erin Cowherd, Sarah Cowherd, Michael Myers, Jessica Ritter, Rusty Shifflett, Keith Shifflett, Anna Shifflett, Mary Shifflett, Bethany Shifflett, Jessamy Oxley, Caroline Oxley, J.D. Sonafrank, Joey Sonafrank, Nathan Sterns, Matthew Sterns, Patrick Hillyard, Megan Hillyard, Robert Howard Jr., Tommy Jenkins, Joseph Lapean, Jonathan Lapean, Jesse Frazier, Jeremiah Frazier.

Great-Great Grandchildren: Lauren Myers, Kylie Howard, Kristiana Howard.

She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her husband of 53 years, John R. Luttrell; and her three sisters, Virginia Brown, Helen Robinson, Bessie Hickerson, and two brothers, Harry Hickerson and James Hickerson.

She was much loved by her family and friends and will be dearly missed.

The funeral will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, by the Rev. Ron Potter. Burial will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be David Sealock, Diron Corrigan, Allen Shifflett, Larry Shifflett, Rusty Shifflett and Keith Shifflett.

The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, Winchester, Virginia.

Memorial contributions may be made to Sunnyside Presbyterian Church, 1270 N. Frederick Pike, Winchester, Virginia 22603.
